Jean de Boschère’s oeuvre is a source of constant discovery. Its enormous wealth has always rewarded those who have met it on its own terms, without any a priori. Boschère was hailed and admired by peers like Antonin Artaud or André Suarès in his day but his multi-faceted genius remains less well-known than it deserves. This site makes available to the curious as well as to more experienced admirers of Jean de Boschère a critical part of his artistic production, the body of work he produced as a book illustrator. Without claiming to be exhaustive, the site makes available, in chronological order of publication, a selection of illustrations for each book indexed. The visitor will also find a sampling of preparatory drawings for certain works as well as biographical documents and photographs. The site is designed to record the comments of visitors, which we heartily invite in the hope of exchanges that will highlight this important piece of Boschère’s artistic legacy. Each book is described briefly in English and in French.
