Abstract

This project explores the intricacies of the discipline of film scoring and how music is used when paired with a visual medium in order to enhance the emotional impact of the visuals within the audience. It delves into the development of theme and motif, how to organize proactively when beginning a film score, and how to structure form and pacing.

Comments

In this project I explore composing for similarly-themed films to different ends and purposes. I use two romantic-themed films to explore tension and conflict within love displayed in media and demonstrate the versatility of music in the context. Is it passionate? Is it stagnant? Is it tumultuous? How does the musicality and instrumentation reflect these ideas?
